Jeremy Downie is a Canadian born visual artist currently residing in St. Paul, MN. He graduated from the School of Animation, Arts & Design at Sheridan College in Toronto. He has exhibited in cities including Johannesburg, South Africa; Vancouver, Canada; Toronto, Canada and throughout the midwest United States. His interdisciplinary practice embraces a variety of mediums including painting, drawing, mixed media, photography and drawing performance.
“My objective is to take ideas and subjects that have always fascinated and concerned me, and then through the painting process, create artwork that engages the viewer beyond surface and image. Most recently, I’ve been experimenting with mixed media paintings on surfaces that are considered somewhat throwaway or transitory. They range from newspaper, wood, cardboard and city maps to more conventional watercolour paper and canvas."
